Day 2 of Filming

Hi guys! I am so glad to see you are still reading my blog. Today, I will be discussing how day 2 of filming for the movie opener went for my group.

For day 2 of filming, we decided to film the school scene. We had already filmed the beach scene, and so technically, the next scene to film was the flashback scene. However, since Jahzara was busy, we decided to film the scene after the flashback first, which is the school scene. This scene takes place in our actual high school, Everglades High School. First, me and Ngoc recorded the establishing shot of this scene, which is simply a short static shot of students walking up the stairs heading to their classes. Then later in the day, we filmed the rest of this scene in 8th period (AICE Psychology) because, as a group, we all shared this same class. This scene required prop actors, so we had asked some of our friends and classmates in this class to stay a bit after school to help us. Luckily, they all agreed to stay behind and were there to be our prop actors. They were mainly there to make the classroom seem less empty. Likewise, we had Ms. Beruty there also as a teacher; being present made the scene feel more authentic. Not to forget, her class is also aesthetically pleasing, which would help our movie opener look cinematic.

The only challenges we faced during this day of filming were that most of our friends, who were prop actors, rode the school bus, which meant we had to quickly film so that they could catch their bus on time. Luckily, filming worked in our favor for us today as it only took three tries to fully record the scene. I guess the third time is really the charm! Our first try did not work because mid recording soemone rang the doorbell that Ms. Beruty has. Our third try did not work because the camera angles were a bit off, and we wanted to see if we could correct them (which we did in our third try).

Overall, today was a successful filming day, where it did not take long, and we barely made any mistakes. The only thing left now is to film our second scene, or flashback scene, which is after the beach scene.
