Welcome back to another blog, and thank you for following through with all these blogs so far. Today, I will be discussing the process it took for my group to come up with the movie opener name or title. For my group, this process took way longer than I expected, mostly because we all only remembered after filming that we still needed to come up with a title.
After we realized that we still needed a title, we began brainstorming. I believed that our group name should be short and simple, like how most movie titles are in the film industry. Most movie titles are only one to three words long; I wanted our movie opener to also be like that. I originally tried brainstorming names by looking at song titles for inspiration. I first looked at the artist group Sonder for inspiration. I suggested names/titles like "Too Fast" or "Nobody Like You," but we scrapped these ideas because when I asked my other group members what they thought, they thought it sounded too romantic. In other words, those titles sounded more related to a romance plot rather than a friendship and grief plot. Then, I decided to look at another artist known as Avenoir. I suggested names like "Alone" or "Mirage." However, we thought that these were too simple now.
As a result, Emijola started helping me brainstorm, and so she was saying random poetic sentences. As she was saying random sentences, one of them all caught our attention. Emijola said, "The friends you meet along the way." This was like a lightbulb had lit up in our heads. We all liked the idea of this sentence, but it was too long. Thus, if you haven't already guessed it, we cut the sentence in half to make our title.
The title for our movie opener is "Along the way." Not only did this title meet our preference for one to three words, but it was something we all liked. This title gives hints about what our movie opener will be about, but it also leaves the audience curious and guessing what it will be about.
