Group Dynamics

Hello guys! Welcome to another one of my blogs.

I will be discussing my group dynamics, or shall I say, how well my group has been with working together. To be honest, it has been good; it could be better, but I can fairly say that it has not been bad.

As a group, we have been having communication issues, at least from my perspective. When we were first discussing when to film or the film dates, the only person who was active in responding was Ngoc. This made it really difficult to plan when we were going to actually film. However, after bringing up this issue with Jahzara and Emijola, they explained their perspectives. Emijola had recently broken her phone and did not have the best way of communicating with us during that time. After she explained her situation, I completely understood, and the minor issue was resolved. Emijola had gotten a new phone, and she was back on track with responding to messages. Now, besides communication issues, as a group, we had trouble finding a time when everyone was free, especially since it was winter break. I was traveling the first week of winter break, and then the week after, the whole group all had individual plans with family and friends. We understood how important it was to spend time with family, so we decided to compromise. We filmed half of the scenes during winter break and the other half in the first week back to school from winter break. I would say this shows that my group and I have a good understanding of each other and are empathetic towards everyone's situation.

Things that I do believe we can still improve on as a group are evenly distributing the workload of the project. Originally, we were all supposed to work on the screenplay together, but it ended up being just me and Ngoc who wrote the screenplay, which was quite frustrating. As a result, we asked Emijola and Jahzara if it would be okay for them to do some of the editing process in return, and they agreed to do so. At times, I felt that not everyone in the group was putting their full effort, but I believe it is best to stay positive and simply move forward together as a group as best as possible. Likewise, having a positive mindset throughout was proven to be valuable, as when we got to editing, it ended up being a full effort, which was nice. Jahzara and Emijola edited, while me and Ngoc gave constant feedback. Everybody communicated fast and efficiently when it came to editing, allowing for the process to go smoothly without too many difficulties.

Although there were some minor inconveniences, I appreciate my group a lot, and I think that overall we work fairly well together. We each have our own creative and thinking skills that allowed us to put together this movie opener. I helped with putting our ideas together as a whole (plot and audios/music) and with a majority of the pre-production process, such as coming up with outfits, hairstyles, props, etc. Ngoc helped with brainstorming specific ideas we would have never thought of before to incorporate into each scene. Emijola helped with editing and correcting the flaws in our movie opener. Jahzara helped with filming/recording the scenes and editing the movie opener as well. Thus, at the end, our group dynamics were phenomenal, and we each played an important role throughout the process. This project could not have been achieved if it wasn't for all of us!
